Vinyl flooring has definitely made a "splash" - pun intended - in the home improvement arena. The fact that it looks great, comes in many beautful styles and is WATERPROOF, has made it a top choice when upgrading your homes flooring.
A question we are often asked by customers who visit our showroom is "What's better, vinyl or laminate? While these two types of floors have a lot of similarities, they each also have unique qualities to consider when deciding which one to install in your home.
At True Builders, we put together a few pros and cons to help answer some of the questions about vinyl flooring and how it compares to other types of flooring. Enjoy!
Vinyl Flooring Pros
Vinyl flooring is made from plastic (Plastic! I know, right?) this makes it extremely resistent to water and moisture. Water can sit on vinyl floors for an extended period of time without causing damage. Some types of vinyl are completely waterproof. This makes vinyl a great choice to beautify areas in your home that get wet more often - and where tile was previously the only option. Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are great examples.
Vinyl Flooring Cons
One of the drawbacks of vinyl flooring used to be about lack of style or design choices. But vinyl has come a long way, and now there are quite a few styles to choose from. You can even find vinyl flooring that mimics the look & feel of stone, tile and even wood!
Also, vinyl may carry a higher price tag than laminate flooring, but it also has a much longer lifespan based on it's superior durability. It can literally last twice as long or longer. So - when making your decision, keep the longevity factor in mind.
SOME VINYL FLOORING IS COMPLETELY WATERPROOF, MAKING IT A GREAT CHOICE TO BEAUTIFY AREAS THAT HAVE A PROPENSITY TO GET WET.
