Remodeling a kitchen in Dover, FL to have a more modern look.
The Simmons family are homeowners in Dover, FL. They wanted to take the bones of their kitchen and give it a facelift that provided a more pleasing and modern look, along with a more functional space for their home. And so, we did a floor to ceiling remodel on the kitchen by installing new appliances, cabinets, flooring, and more.
Updated Cabinets & Appliances
We removed outdated cabinets and brought in ones that are more modern. The old cabinets had a low hanging segment that extended to the countertop and drawers that took up a large amount of usable space.
We replaced the cabinets with uniform, white cabinets that contribute towards giving the kitchen a clean, modern look. It provides consistency and creates a space that appears larger and more open.
Adding new appliances and a farmhouse sink.
For this remodel, the homeowners chose to upgrade their appliances. We installed all new appliances, as well as a new farmhouse style sink. This sink adds another focal point to the room. The farmhouse sink compliments the backsplash and brings out the darker colors in the countertops.
Granite Countertops Installed
We removed all of the old, laminate countertops and installed upgraded granite countertops. Granite is one of the top choices for kitchen counters. Granite also makes a home more marketable when homeowners choose to sell their property.
In this kitchen remodel, the granite countertops add a fresh look to the kitchen that compliments the white of the cabinets. We installed the granite for both the countertops and the island.
New Wood Flooring
The flooring from the old kitchen was dark and outdated. We removed the flooring and replaced it with new wood flooring that was lighter in color and complimented the overall design scheme of the kitchen. The new floors give a relaxed and inviting feel to the entire space.
Additional elements to the kitchen remodel.
Other new additions to the kitchen space include the island, lighting, and backsplash.
- Island: The Island was a choice we made to add usable counter space for entertaining and eating. Islands create a focal point for kitchens and, with the square footage available in this particular home, we were able to add an island without compromising the space.
- Lighting: We removed the old lighting and installed canned lighting in the ceiling. We also installed more modern light fixtures above the island.
- Backsplash: The backsplash was a great way to bring in other colors and break up the white of the cabinets. It also proved to be the perfect solution to take color from the cabinets, countertops, and appliances and brings them together. This helps create a cohesive design and brings all the individual elements together.
